Godswill Akpabio is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who has served in various high-level positions in the Nigerian government. He is currently the 15th president of the Nigerian Senate.

However, Akpabio was born on December 9, 1962, in Ukana, Ikot Ntuen, Akwa Ibom State. He attended the Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, and then went on to study law at the University of Calabar. After graduating from law school, he worked as a teacher and then as a lawyer in Lagos.

similarly, Akpabio entered politics in the early 2000s. He was elected to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 2003, and then served as the Speaker of the House from 2004 to 2007. In 2007, he was elected governor of Akwa Ibom State. He served as governor for two terms, until 2015.

However, As governor, Akpabio implemented a number of major infrastructure projects in Akwa Ibom State. He also introduced a number of social welfare programs, such as free primary and secondary education, and free healthcare for pregnant women, children, and the elderly.

Most importantly, In 2015, Akpabio was elected to the Nigerian Senate, representing the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District. He was reelected to the Senate in 2019. In 2019, he was also appointed as the minister for Niger Delta Affairs.

However, Akpabio has been accused of corruption on a number of occasions. In 2015, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) began investigating him on allegations that he diverted over 100 billion Naira from Akwa Ibom State during his time as governor. However, no charges have been filed against him.
